Spied Up Date: 2013 Mercedes A-Class

The all-new Mercedes A-Class has been caught completely undisguised during a photo shoot in Lanzarote.

A video uploaded to YouTube reveals the new BMW 1 Series-rivalling car for the first time following patent office sketches and teaser shots.

The car in these pictures is more aggressive than we’ve seen before, with a lower front splitter and grille borrowed from the Concept A. That could be down to the fact this car is wearing an optional AMG styling package.

Under the skin, the A-Class will feature an all-new front-wheel-drive platform with McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear axle, while power will come from the latest C-Class engines with a line-up of four-cylinder petrol and diesel units.

There will also be a new 2.0-litre turbocharged and direct-injection petrol engine, which the Concept A previewed in 204bhp hot hatch form, hooked up to a dual-clutch gearbox.

Expect to see the new Mercedes A-Class unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, although it’s likely to be five-door only. The sportier three-door model will follow later in the year. For more details click here.
