Rolls-Royce’s ultra-lux and ultra- expensive Phantom line is due for an update. Our spy photographer recently caught a Phantom coupe test mule out in the snow and the changes appear to be minor, at least from a styling standpoint.
Rolls-Royce concentrated much of the camouflage up front, hinting at a revised front fascia with new headlights and perhaps a reworked upper bumper. The side and rear appears to be left untouched and we’re ok with that, since the view from those two angles is fine as is.
Additionally, the interior is expected to get a bit of a nip/tuck, though it’s hard to imagine what else Rolls Royce has up their sleeves beyond the available Starlight Headlining option (with over 1600 fiber optic lights hand-set in the headliner) or the all-leather floor surface option.
Finally, the power train is rumored to receive some tweaks that will add power, yet reduce carbon emissions. The current BMW-sourced 6.8-liter, V-12 engine is rated at 453 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque, which pulls the heavy Rolls-Royce Phantom coupe from 0 to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds. Last year, Rolls Royce showed off its experimental electric power train in the 102EX, though no update on its status has been provided.
